Entering the 2024-25 season, the Hoban girls’ basketball team is determined to secure a district championship after finishing as runners-up last year. With a 22-2 record, the Knights have dominated their competition, consistently winning by significant margins.
The team’s chemistry and winning attitude foster a strong sense of sportsmanship, making the program one to watch. Notable victories against Crestview, Gilmour Academy, and McKinley highlight the Knights’ cohesive play and resilience on the court.
“This season has seen many improvements,” said sophomore Kate Wiedt. “We work together and all have our minds set on becoming better as a unit.”
“I’m beyond happy with our performance this year! Our team is playing well against a tough schedule, but we find a way to persevere through those games,” Wiedt added.
Off the court, the Knights have put in significant effort to prepare for their stellar season. Since the summer, the team has committed to the weight room, building strength and endurance to complement their gameplay.
Senior captain Finley Kennedy has led the young squad with her dedication and leadership, inspiring teammates to strive for success. “I hope that the relationship the girls build from being part of this team turns out to have a positive impact on every one of them.”
Currently ranked No. 7 in Ohio for Division III, the Knights have showcased a balanced attack, combining offensive firepower with defensive persistence. At the halfway point of their schedule, their impressive stats and team dynamic set them apart.
Congratulations to the Knights for their district championship win against Padua Franciscan on Feb. 22. Pack the stands and cheer them on for any future games in their remarkable season. Go Knights!
