Top Netflix movies for the quarantine

Tragedies define history. From the World Wars to 9/11 to the recent coronavirus pandemic, bad events often control our lives. However, it’s unhealthy to allow our lives to be dictated by these, so we must find ways to distract ourselves and live happy lives.

The solution to this ages-old problem has always been found in entertainment. In modern times, this takes the form of TV shows, movies, video games and sports. Throughout our lives, we have all turned to one of these to avoid the various problems in our lives. I know I’ve watched Netflix or football for hours in order to avoid the problems in my life.

So, in this current moment where we’re all stuck in our houses, entertainment will play a key role in our lives. Since pretty much everyone has Netflix, here are the best movies to watch on it over the next few months.

Shawshank Redemption

Shawshank Redemption is a touching tale about a man who is wrongly accused of murder and charged with life in prison. With Morgan Freeman as the narrator, this movie does no wrong. It’s one of the only movies I’ve ever cried over and it’s my favorite of all time.

The Dark Knight

Anchored by Heath Ledger’s amazing Joker performance, “The Dark Knight” is the best superhero movie ever made. It perfectly balances jaw-dropping action sequences and interesting dialogue to create a truly special film. It will keep you intrigued and on the edge of your seat through all its twists and turns.

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

If you haven’t seen this classic film, you’re doing something wrong. It’s a hilarious movie about a high schooler who skips school and has to avoid his school’s principal, who’s determined to catch him in the act. Packed to the brim with jokes, watching “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” is a great way to spend your month off.

Snowpiercer

This film takes place in a world where the last citizens of humanity are confined to a train that circles the globe. The main character, played by Chris Evans, leads a revolt in which he attempts to make it from the back of the train to the front. Each car has a different theme and it creates stellar and unique action sequences. On top of this, it promotes a great message about the injustice of the class system.

Any of these four movies will help you distract your mind from the pandemic, which is something we all need. I highly recommend all of them, as they will make your quarantine experience more enjoyable.
