Unified for Uganda puts the ‘U’ in Underrated
Hoban’s Unified for Uganda club, which began in 2014, provides amazing service, but receives no acclaim.
“Unified for Uganda is just a really fun group of people coming together to do some good,” club president, Kate Gromofsky, said.
This club raises money to provide children with free education in Uganda. Every year, this club “adopts” impoverished kids, sending them money and written correspondence. This not only assists with educational availability, but also provides a spirit of camaraderie in their lives.
“It was so cool to be able to communicate with the kids. This communication made it real that we are a part of their lives,” Gromofsky said.
Many connections to Hoban and The Holy Cross Order exist in Uganda, including schools and congregations throughout the area. The club strives to make the Ugandan children an even bigger part of the Holy Cross family at Hoban.
Unified for Uganda hosts bake sales as well as bracelet sales to raise money for their cause. Meetings will be held Tuesday mornings at 7:30 in Room 23.
