Famous British boyband from the 2010s, One Direction, is now making moves in their solo careers. They began their journey after they competed on the XFactor in 2010 and their fame quickly skyrocketed. After one of the five members, Zayn Malik, left the band, they produced one last album and went on an 18 month hiatus in 2015 that has turned into over a decade. The members all took on solo careers and built a name for themselves. Liam Payne, tragically died in November of 2025, and the members reunited at his funeral. Since then, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik have released individual albums and began touring. Niall Horan has not released an album yet, but he has announced an upcoming album and tour.
This is the first time in nine years that all members, except for Payne, have been actively releasing music at the same time. Now that all band members who are able to are making music, fans are provided with the unique opportunity to go see the artists live within the same year. One Direction fans all over the world are overjoyed to celebrate this summer full of music.
“I’m so excited to see them all touring and producing music, it’s almost like we have the band back,” said junior Natellie Edwards.
Ever since the band went on hiatus, fans have been yearning for a reunion, and unfortunately, this may be the closest they will get to a reunion. Elaina Karafilis, art teacher and One Direction fan agrees.
“I think I always hoped for a reunion, but I could only imagine that happening when they’re in their 60’s and 70’s now that Liam sadly passed away,” said Karafilis.
Whether it is going to the concerts, streaming the albums, or watching glitchy concert live streams, fans will be celebrating this flashback to 2010 all summer long.
