That’s Bogus!
At first glance, Amanda Bogus is just an average girl. If you didn’t know her, you’d think she was simply another cog in the wheel that is Archbishop Hoban High School.
Those who know her will quickly correct you though. Amanda Bogus is anything but average.
Only a sophomore, Bogus has already left her mark on Hoban, specifically the Hoban girls’ bowling team.
Saturday, Dec. 8, the varsity bowling teams traveled to Charger Lanes in Norton to make up the Panther Tournament.

At the tournament, Bogus claimed the girls’ high game with a score of 185. That’s 32 points above her average of 153.
With scores like that, you might think that Bogus has spent her whole life in a bowling alley. Surprisingly, her bowling career only started last year.
“When I went to schedule my classes for Freshman year my dad started to talk to the [bowling] coach and he encouraged me to sign up,” Bogus said. “I then went to an open gym that summer to see what bowling was like and I really enjoyed it.”
Since then, Bogus has enjoyed every second of her time on the bowling team. “I enjoy getting to know people in other grades that I would not have known if we didn’t all bowl together,” said Bogus.
Over the two seasons that she has participated in, Bogus has grown immensely as a bowler. On Sunday, Dec. 9, she helped lead Hoban’s varsity girls’ team to a second place title at the Nordonia Varsity Tournament.
When asked about the tournament, Bogus explained, “it took a little while to get used to the lanes but after that I think as a team we all bowled very well.”
Hoban’s bowling teams are ready for greatness this year. With players like Amanda Bogus, how could they not be?
