Weinstein Under Investigation for Sexual Harassment

Successful Hollywood producer and founder of the prestigious Weinstein Company, Harvey Weinstein, has recently been the object of numerous sexual assault allegations. More than 50 women have come forward, stating that they have experienced his aggressive and forceful sexual impositions, and the Los Angeles police department is currently investigating these allegations.

These accusations have shaken the famed Hollywood community, due to Weinstein’s well known status in the lives of the stars from decades of prominent work in the film industry. More frightening stories from victims are being shared at a rapid pace, demonstrating the immensity of the issue.

Most women report that Weinstein presented himself in a bathrobe in a hotel room, where he often held his auditions for movies with actresses. This attire left some women feeling violated and disturbed during their “business” ordeals. Some were lucky, able to escape the unnerving efforts of Weinstein. However, other women were forced to endure the degrading and chilling situations.

Often, Weinstein would threaten the actresses if they refused to perform sexual acts, disturbingly saying that this is “how the business works” and their careers would fail if they did not cooperate. Many of the incidents include similar details, such as how Weinstein requested that the woman gives him a massage or vice versa. These occurrences have shaken many popular stars, including Gwyneth Paltrow and Cara Delevingne. Actress Rosanna Arquette claimed that her career suffered after she denied Weinstein of sexual acts. This is also the case for many other victims.

Weinstein has been placed under a civil rights investigation through the New York attorney general. He has thereby been stripped of his membership with the The Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences.

Sexual predation has become a rather concerning and growing issue. Weinstein’s supporters are few, and many agree he deserves to be punished for his dozens of demeaning actions. However, the price Weinstein will pay for the harassment is yet to be decided.
