At least 50 people were killed in a shooting at an outdoor concert festival on Sunday at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. A gunman opened fire on the field from a hotel room above the premises, killing at least 50 and wounding hundreds more. If numbers remain accurate, this would become the “deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history,” passing the previous high— the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando, which killed 49. Officials believe the shooter, Stephen Paddock, killed himself in his hotel room. At the time of the shooting, country music star, Jason Aldean was performing. The music abruptly stopped as the shots were heard, and the singers and crowd began to scramble to safety. The shooting continued for at least ten minutes.  According to current investigations, in addition to the 50 confirmed dead, 406 more were taken to the hospital. The motive for this attack is still unknown.
